“I thanked the guys for the effort,” said Wheeldon Jr. after the 2-1 loss to cap the two-game, total-goal semifinal set. “Because no matter what’s thrown at us, we didn’t quit. We kept going, we kept going … we could have played for another 90 minutes and the boys would have kept going.”
What they wanted, of course, was to keep going onward in these playoffs, hoping to move into the final — which would have happened with a win in Hamilton — and finally capture a CPL title that would have erased the failures of previous years.
