In this article, we delve into Wasim’s impactful performance in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), where his T20 mastery truly shines.

Before we explore his exploits in the CPL, it’s essential to understand Imad Wasim’s background. Born in Wales, his parents moved to Pakistan when he was very young, shaping his cricketing career entirely within the Pakistani cricket system. Wasim’s cricketing journey began when he left his studies in medicine to pursue a chance to play for the under-19 Pakistan team.

In August 2019, Wasim tied the knot with Sannia Ashfaq at the Shah Faisal Mosque in Islamabad, marking a personal milestone amidst his cricketing achievements.

Imad Wasim made his mark on the international scene with his debut in Twenty20 Internationals against Zimbabwe in Lahore on May 24, 2015. His One Day International debut followed on July 19, 2015, against Sri Lanka. His stellar performances earned him a central contract for the 2018–19 season by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and he later captained the Pakistan ODI team in March 2019.

The pinnacle of Wasim’s international career came in the 2019 Cricket World Cup, where he showcased his all-round brilliance. Scoring 162 runs in 5 innings at an average of 54.00 and a healthy strike rate of 118.24, Wasim played a crucial role with both the bat and the ball, chipping in with 2 wickets at an economy rate of 4.82.

However, it’s in the T20 format that Imad Wasim has earned the moniker of a specialist. Known for his distinctive “roo-like” skipping bowling action in the powerplay overs, Wasim has been a sought-after player in T20 leagues globally. He has plied his trade for various franchises, including the Caribbean Premier League, Big Bash League’s Melbourne Renegades, Bangladesh Premier League, and the Pakistan Super League, where he captained the Karachi Kings for three seasons.

In the Caribbean Premier League, Wasim’s dynamic style and ability to contribute with both bat and ball have made him a standout player. His T20 expertise, combined with a strategic mindset, positions him as a valuable asset for any T20 franchise.

The latest chapter in Imad Wasim’s T20 journey saw him being signed by the Galle Gladiators for the third edition of the Lanka Premier League in July 2022, adding another feather to his illustrious T20 career.
